If you are one of those budding entrepreneurs out
there you know just how hard it is to juggle work and home. Let’s not
even begin to consider that you might have a social life. And if you’re
anything like me, you’re a sucker for self help books. How do I manage
my time efficiently? How to motivate the staff? (if you have any). How
to be your own accountant, runner, lawyer, and administrator and still
have time to do the real business that you started.
Well, I’ve read a lot of books and spent the last
few years trying to do all these things and the truth is you can’t. You
will only save what’s left of your sanity if you learn one thing... ...
The art of delegation.
You must delegate, delegate, delegate.
Not only at work, but at home too. If your
children are old enough, get them to take over some household chores.
Hire more help if you have to. At work, outsource as much as you can.
Everything that is not related to your core business can be outsourced.
If you’re a budding designer for example, you need
to spend more time designing so that you can make some money while you
hire someone to do your accounts.
Doing what you do well enough to make a successful business out of it
is hard enough without having to learn a million new skills while
you’re at it.
